Learning Logical Reasoning Using an Intelligent Tutoring System: A Hybrid Approach to Student Modeling

In our previous works, we presented Logic-Muse as an Intelligent Tutoring System that helps learners improve logical reasoning skills in multiple contexts. components were validated and argued by experts throughout the designing process (ITS researchers, logicians, psychologists). A catalog of errors (syntactic semantic) has been established, addition to explicit representation semantic knowledge structures meta-structures underlying conditional reasoning. Bayesian network with expert validation developed used a Knowledge Tracing (BKT) allows inference learner skills. This paper presents evaluation learner-model (a bayesian model). We conducted study collected data from nearly 300 students who processed 48 activities. These develop psychometric model for initializing learner's validating structure initial network. have also neural architecture on which was trained support deep tracing (DKT) process. The proposed improves version DKT allowing integration (through Expert Validation Network) better generalization few samples. results show significant improvement predictive power model. analysis illustrates excellent potential improving network's model's initialization
